Sean Duggan grew up near the Lough but has spent the last number of years living in Belgium where the endless temptation of beer, chocolate and frites started to take a toll on his waistline.  When a work colleague pointed this out and challenged Sean to run a half-marathon in Rome in March this year he jumped at the chance and started training in sub-zero temperatures last winter.

Sean joined Togher AC as he wanted to be affiliated with a Cork club and he came home to run the Cork half-marathon in June where he met his Togher teammates for the first time.

Sean  travels a lot and, by using Meetup, WhatsApp and Facebook he is able to motivate himself and keep up training to the same rhythm of what is happening at home in Togher AC , be it a long run in Blackrock , or the Tuesday track. This virtual motivation turns into onsite support and friendship when Sean is back home.

Sean’s next running goals are to run a 10km in less than 50 minutes and a half marathon in Belgium in November 2.05hrs. ‘This may be slow for seasoned runners, but step by step is my goal. Togher AC make you feel welcomed, not matter what your capability is.’
